Tara has been the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Port Douglas Daintree (TPDD) since 2014. Since her appointment she has led the organisation with growth in revenue, membership and marketing output. TPDD is the local tourism organisation for the Douglas Shire responsible for destination marketing and experience delivery.
In 2019 Tara worked with Douglas Shire Council to see the region become the first in the world to achieve ECO Destination Certification with Ecotourism Australia.
Ms Bennett has worked for TPDD since 2007, previously in the role of Business Development Executive, where she led the highly regarded Port Douglas Incentives and Port Douglas Wedding Professionals groups and established her reputation throughout the organisation for excellence and integrity. She previously worked in other hospitality service and management roles, and achieved a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Deakin University and a Master of Tourism (ecotourism) degree from James Cook University.
Tara sits on the Tourism Tropical North Queensland Board, FNQ Regional Community Forum, Australian Tourism Export Council North branch subcommittee, the Douglas Shire Council Local Disaster Management Group and recently retired from the St Augustines Mossman School Board.
Tara brings to the RJC a sub region perspective with a focus on constraints in tourism and hospitality.
