Job Vacancy: Administration & Project Support Officer
The Cairns Chamber of Commerce is the peak body for business representation in the Cairns region. We are here to help our members’ businesses grow by connecting them to opportunities and to act in the best interests of the Cairns business community.
We have prioritised Cairns business issues on behalf of members since 1909, and will continue to be the only Cairns based business representative body that is exclusively Cairns focused.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Project Support Officer to join our tight knit team.
You will be responsible for providing effective administrative support to the CEO in the delivery of specific projects being delivered by the Cairns Chamber of Commerce. This includes secretariat support, industry engagement, media engagement, data collections and event coordination.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Secretariat support and administration
- Sourcing data in relation to employment and skills sets
- Generating and managing content for the website, media releases and social media content including high quality written content for marketing and advocacy material
- Coordinate regular e-newsletters including contributing articles
- Coordinate press conferences
- Identify opportunities for regular industry engagement events and manage execution
- Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer
- Completion and delivery of required government reporting
- Ability to organise and run events from start to finish, including venue and speaker sourcing
- Create marketing materials to promote aforementioned events
Skills and Experience:
- Talent and passion for community and industry engagement
- Engaging interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to develop and maintain conducive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
- Customer service & stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work autonomously and set high standards for own performance and behaviour
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Strong written communication skills with some experience in marketing, public relations or related fields
Qualifications:
A formal qualification is not required but would be advantageous; however, it is desirable that the successful applicant possess the following:
- Advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Experience working in a marketing, events, project management or high level administrative role
- Experience with web & social media content and graphic design is highly regarded
- Drivers licence
