The Board of the Cairns Chamber of Commerce (Cairns Chamber) is seeking to appoint a highly credible Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to continue to build the organisation’s strategic, operational and membership pursuits.
The incoming CEO will represent more than 700 members and will lead business support activities, advocacy, networking, collaboration, policy development and program delivery. The CEO is accountable to the Board for the achievement of its strategic direction, delivery of imperatives and future growth.
To succeed in this position, you will have a track record in managing an innovative business or commercial enterprise, Peak Body or similar operation. Knowledge of the business sector is essential as is a passion for business development and growth.
The role requires the highest level of corporate governance and provides sound and innovative advice to the Board. Leading with operational excellence and delivering exceptional member experience are critical to the position. Superior advocacy and expertise in policy development, government relations and stakeholder engagement, and outstanding communication and media skills are key to success in the position.
The Cairns Chamber is the peak representative body for business across the Cairns region. It has prioritised Cairns region business issues on behalf of members since 1909. This highly active organisation assists and supports businesses to grow by linking them with opportunities. It always acts in the best interests of the Cairns region business community.
The Cairns Chamber is a key contributor to prosperity in the Cairns region and acts as an advocate for the business community, a conduit for information and a promoter of Cairns’ position in the regional landscape. The organisation drives business success for its members via the development of a strong and resilient regional economy, the development of a constructive business environment, and as the voice of business.
