Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal
As many of us are personally aware, the recent Ravenshoe Tragedy has deeply affected the FNQ community and has left many families reeling and with a mountain of medical bills that will be ongoing, especially for the burns victims critically injured in the explosion. There are also some young families dealing with the loss of a parent who were sadly killed in the explosion. The FNQ Emergency Services Charity Ball is aimed at solely raising the much needed funds for the burns victims and their families. The event has strongly aligned itself with the Reach Out For Ravenshoe campaign to ensure consistency with media promotion and to allow for all money raised from the event to be donated directly to the givit.org.au fund setup immediately after the explosion took place.
The event will be a black tie gala charity ball to be held in the last week of September bringing together all emergency services in our region – Queensland Fire & Emergency Services, Queensland Ambulance Service, Rural Fire Services Queensland, Aviation Rescue & Fire fighting, State Emergency Service, Queensland Police Service and Surf Lifesaving Queensland. It will also be an event to thank the first responders in our region for the great work they do on a daily basis which they themselves put their lives on the line to help those in need.
Silent and live auctions of memorabilia, holidays and amazing prizes will be showcased on the night to raise extra funds, along with many fun and affordable raffles and games to set the scene of fun and frivolity to suit every persons budget.
We will have X-Factor’s Rochelle Pitt attending, along with a band called ‘Soul 2 You’ to entertain us – who are a highly sought after band from Brisbane made up of Firemen. A celebrity MC will soon be announced.
The Cairns Chamber of Commerce is very proud to be supporting this event and we hope you are able to support this cause also by attending and helping us make a positive difference to the victims and their families’ lives.
